Located at City Point on Dhole Patil Road, Mainland China exhales a new breath of life to this vicinity with its originality and traditional outlook. The interiors of the restaurant is generously spacious and lavishly decorated. Though they have kept it simple you can still notice the effort they have made with the décor. As much as you will like the interiors, it’s their outdoor sitting area which steals the spotlight. Rather basic in appearance the al fresco sitting is enjoyed by the patrons on pleasant Pune evenings.

The service is cordial and very prompt. You will like being waited upon by the friendly and polite staff who will consider your each wish their command. The presentation of the dishes are of great importance to them. The chef makes sure that the each plate that comes to your table is eye-catching and visually appetizing. Whip up your appetite at Mainland China by trying out their scrumptious appetizers. Start with a bowl of hot soup like lemon coriander thick soup, shangsi crabmeat soup and duckmeat and Chinese cabbage thick soup. Ordering dim sums is a rite of passage here so indulge in, vegetable siu mai, chicken shanghai spring rolls and chicken wontons fried. Also dig in lettuce wraps with waterchestnuts & chicken, pan fried chilli fish, hunan prawns, konjee crispy lamb, all-time favourite crackling spinach, stir fried mushooms ginger chilli, roast duck in chilli plum sauce and drums of heaven.

If you still have some appetite left after such a delicious spread of starters then move onto the main course which has some lovely highlights. Look into, spicy fish in a hot pot, roast lamb in mahlak sauce, spicy duck in a hot pot, sliced chicken in oyster sauce, sapo tofu with vegetables, crabmeat steamed or braised and slow fried jumbo prawns. Finish with a lip-smacking sweet dish of honey noodles with almond flakes or steamed coconut dumplings with honey butter sauce. Dining at Mainland China comes with a slightly pricey tag but go anyways.
