Italian food has progressed way beyond your usual pasta pizza fare in India and us Indians are waking up to this glorious cuisine more and more each day. Although we don’t mind a slice of pie once now and then, we are becoming more and more adventurous with our choices. Our well-travelled palates are becoming accomplished with international dining which shows in our preferences. Many restaurants have started to include lesser known dishes in their menu so a diner has a choice to try not only classic fare but unusual untapped dishes as well. ‘Mezzo Mezzo’ is a popular fine dining restaurant at JW Marriott in Juhu, Mumbai, renowned for serving authentic Italian food in splendid sophisticated setting. It is one of the best Italian restaurants in the city with an impressive wine list to match.
Mezzo Mezzo is Italian food at its best. The food is outstanding and exceptionally prepared by a team of brilliant chefs with Chef Matteo Arvonio at the mantle. The chef tries to present dishes from each region in Italy, a fact we like. Select a great bottle of wine to pair your meal and if you want any recommendations, ask your server. Don’t let the expensive menu hold you back from indulging extensively into Mezzo Mezzo’s fabulous Italian fare. Antipasti features, aspargi e pecorino, aragosta e gamberoni alla catalana, arancini siciliani, crostini vegetariani and la burrata. Second course entails delicacies like, roasted pumpkin risotto, New Zealand lamb chops, home-made vegetable lasagna, della casa pizza, spaghetti rustichella, black cod al cartoccio, frutti di mare pizza, grilled Scottish salmon, slow-cooked Dutch suckling pig two ways and home-made potato gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce.
As the magnificent finale opt for something sweet to tickle your sweet tooth. Typical Italian desserts include, affogato al caffe, bonet, tiramisu classic, cassata alla siciliana and tortino di cioccolato. Through discreet plate glass doors you step into Mezzo Mezzo’s well-furnished classy space. A vast elongated room is equipped with small formal dining tables on one side and booths on the other. From wide shuttered windows one gets a lovely view of the pool so one can drink in the soothing view between courses. Then there is an open bar on one side of the restaurant where you can sit on woven bar chairs and sip your drink.
- The current menu has been prepared by chef Matteo Arvonio.
- Though there is the usual list of pasta/pizza options, this is a fine dining restaurant. Opt for something authentically Italian
- Till the menu stabilises, I hesitate to recommend an individual dish. But try the fish dishes. They are usually outstanding
