Bookworms are a dying breed, even more so as more and more readers are choosing to go with digital e-book formats rather finding pleasure in old-fashioned but classic paperbacks. As time is passing by many of the readers are forgetting what books smell like or the feel of a page between your fingers or the simple pleasure of looking at the book on your bedside and remembering the story behind it. If you are a reader, you know what we mean. Keeping the love alive is a lovely quaint café where the sight of people engrossed in books (not laptops or kindle) is not so unusual. Called ‘Leaping Windows’, the café is located on the second & third floor at Corner View on Ashok Chopra Marg, Versova. This café has given the bookworms of Mumbai a new lease of life.
Every bookworm worth his salt knows the delight of reading a book along with a cup of coffee or something to nibble on, so Leaping Windows has created a menu tailor-made to keep your hunger pangs at bay while you are lost in the Kingdom of Narnia or trekking your way into the deepest of Amazon. To keep your inner gourmet happy they have crafted a menu targeting American, Continental and European cuisines including some health stuff too. While your pet dog is propped along your feet start digging into the menu with some munchies or wade straight into the main fare. On offer is, Jamaican grill, jim curry, cheese & shrooms sandwich, el chapo pizza, stew-art little, bangers & mash, red riding hood, buffalo soldier, rooting for you sandwich, trailer pork boys burger and rocket man pizza.
The fun interesting names given to the dishes makes menu reading all the more amusing. The day starts early for Leaping Windows so one can stop by for a lazy breakfast before moving onto the day. You have a wonderful set of choices to pick from. Don’t walk away before indulging in something sweet. A banana split waffle, affogato, lemony snickett, black mamba, banoffee pie and pound cake will do very nicely. Ambience at Leaping Windows is a charming one. The café is tucked into a bookstore and is brightly and creatively decorated with murals and wall arts. Choose a book or bring your own before settling down at their wraparound veranda or in those bean bags inside to get on with your reading. The place is inexpensive too.
