About Cream Centre, High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel
There are several many restaurants that are responsible for altering the gastronomic scene of Mumbai, by introducing the diners to a new cuisine or sometimes a new perspective. Inspired by them other restaurants crafted their menus, slipping in a change that is bound to modify the dining scene of the city. Bringing forth the flood of vegetarian eclectic restaurants initially was Mumbai’s favourite family style restaurant, ‘Cream Centre’. The restaurant has numerous branches all over the city but we happen to favour the one in Lower Parel. Find the outlet perched on the first floor of Skyzone at High Street Phoenix. It will not be wrong to say that the restaurant owes most of its popularity to its menu as well as affordable rates. The long line waiting for their table patiently lets one know of the demand of this quaint restaurant.
Cream Centre has inspired many restaurants to follow its style of menu, which encompasses North Indian, Italian and Fast foods. The menu targets the vegetarian versions of the cuisines from all around the world. It’s quite pocket-friendly so feel free to splurge. If you want the Jain version of the dishes, let your server know. Global cuisines are altered to suit the desi palate so expect a shot of spice in every other dish. One can begin the meal with, onion rings, American corn cheese balls, chilli cheese toast, tandoori subz wonton, khau galli vada served with green chutney and the big nachos. Next comes the mains such as, half & half pizza, chef’s oriental special sizzler, paneer tikka masala, channa bhatura, penne arrabiata double baked, Punjabi masala khichadi and Italian baked sizzler.
Wash it all down with a strawberry mint mojito for that refreshing kick. Finish it up with a helping of sizzling brownie or mango ice cream in desserts. Encased behind a modern white façade, Cream Centre opens into a brightly lit room dotted with small formal tables. The best place in the house to sit however remains the tables next to the huge plate glass windows. The view is good enough and gives you something to look at between courses. The interiors are good-looking and simply designed. There is plenty of space to sit and a large group of diners are comfortably seated.
