The concept of pubbing started with the English when they introduced to the world the art of nursing one’s beer with a bowl of peanuts and arguing with their friends over sports. It gave them a comfortable space to drink in peace and a sense of community. Since then the idea simply grew into what it is today, a sought after string of gastro pubs dotted all over Mumbai. With ‘British Brewing Company’ the idea goes back home by adapting the appearance of an old-fashioned watering hole, starkly different than the usual modern suspects one has come to expect. The pub presides on the third floor of Oberoi Mall on Film City Road in Goregaon East and is a huge social hub for tipplers of all ages. You will see a lot of after office crowd here enjoying their beer.
British Brewing Company takes an insane amount of pride in its bar selection, which simply overspills with a vast variety of beers. If you want to be adventurous, ask for whatever is on the tap. Other than an extensive variety of hard liquors, they also do great cocktails. Imbibe a few before moving onto the shots. People drinking alone can sit at the bar and nurse their beers. Food wise, their menu is all-encompassing. Expect everything from Continental to American to European to Italian but most surprising of all is their British section. Try, juicy lamb seekh kebab, cottage cheese skewers, butter garlic prawns, spinach & mushroom pinwheel, bruschetta, kheema pao, paneer tikka and hot cheesy logs. Main course is a compilation of dishes like, south-west chicken wrap, submarine veg sandwich, Mediterranean pizza, pasta in pink sauce, country side chicken burger, traditional fish & chips and Thai red curry.
Jains get a separate menu. Their dessert section is an overload of chocolate, a delicious selection for chocoholics. Indulge in, berry chocolate cobbler, sizzling brownie, hot chocolate fondant, caramel custard, mud cake, chocolate biscotti and rich chocolate cake. Interiors are designed similar to an old-fashioned English pub. Décor is wood heavy and masculine, dark in appearance. Wooden barrels are used cleverly in various forms to accentuate the earthy brewery appeal. Dim lighting, dark intense ambience and casual relaxing vibe, makes British Brewing Company an ideal place to bring your friends for couple of drinks. While not cheap, the pub can be an excellent addition to your favorite hangouts.
