About Zuperb, Calangute, North Goa
Travelling around Goa can take a toll on your pockets and while you are eating your way around, your funds will be left weak by end of your trip. This is where budget-friendly eateries come in handy. The places that might not be visible on the culinary map but are fantastic nonetheless. One such place we happened to chance upon on one of our impulsive tries. Called ‘Zuperb’ by the locals, this cozy little gem is owned by a couple, Zubin and Mani, who are crazy about food. Since leaving their high-end jobs in cosmopolitan Mumbai, the couple ventured out to Goa and Zuperb came into the picture. The eatery is located at Gauro Vaddo on Holiday Street in Calangute, a bustling road dotted with tourists. Zuperb will be an excellent spot to bring a friend or your whole gang for a chirpy fulfilling bite.
The menu is encompassing and extensive. The owner’s love for food shines through the selection of various cuisines ranging from Goan, Parsi, Continental, North Indian to Chinese. If you are overwhelmed with all the gastronomic galore then focus mainly on Parsi food, which we promise will be lip smacking. Opt for a cooler or something boozy to drink with your meal. Go with an appetite, the menu is that generous. Savor a hefty breakfast post a late night party. First course features yummy dishes like, cheese corn tikki, chicken 65, kingfish tawa, sesame prawns honey, vegetable spring roll, fish fingers, golden fried calamari and paneer Manchurian. For a more substantial fare go with, egg patio, roast mutton in brown sauce, veg Chinese chopsuey, fish masala, jamshed’s, patra ni machi, prawns in white sauce and chicken xacuti.
The choices on offer are nothing short of staggering. There is something for everyone here. Polish off a few desserts before heading home such as, caramel custard, fruit salad, pancake with banana/honey/chocolate sauce, kulfi stick, chocolate brownie, ice cream cone and choco brownie with vanilla ice cream. For a Goan experience ask for dodol or bebinca. Zuperb is designed in a very simple and casual manner. Unpretentious wooden walls mounted with colourful pop poster that runs along the wall and a white marker board on which you can write messages for the restaurant. Dining at Zuperb is pretty affordable. It’s a good option for large groups or people with low budget.

- Parking is quite a challenge as it is a busy street. There is a pay parking facility available down the street
- Orders are a la minute and take a while to prepare so be prepared accordingly
