This year with the reduction of GST to just 5 per cent for eateries, the mood is upbeat in Ahmedabad, the place where entrepreneurs thrive. Many new places have opened up in January itself and café seem to be the flavour of the season with new cafes coming up each month. Most new places are opening up in the highly competitive and trendy Western Ahmedabad area.
Here are our picks from the newly opened restaurants in town.
Cuisine: Pizzas, Italian
Located on the first floor, just opposite a very popular Curries restaurant, this is the newly opened place from the Soho group of restaurants. It serves New York Style Pizza and other Italian and Indian dishes. They also serve the Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza, the only place in town to serve this kind of pizza.

I love Sandwich House, Bodakdev
Cuisine: Café, Fast Food
As the name suggests, this is a place where you can get all kinds of sandwiches - vegetarian, non-vegetarian, egg sandwiches and even sweet sandwiches loaded with Nutella; you name it and it is available here. They also serve many cold drinks, shakes, frappes, etc to wash down all the bready stuff. Desserts that would be served here are waffles and pancakes so make the most of them.

This another new café opened up recently, and it is located right opposite Vastrapur Lake where so people take a walk and relax with the families and friends. The place serves fries, kinds of pasta, pizzas, Nachos, Bruschetta and many other Indian snacks like Chaat, etc. It has got a colourful menu and the place is done up in a trendy style.

Cuisine: North Indian
Again, as the name suggests, this place serves North Indian cuisine, with emphasis on Punjabi food. It is opened up close to Zydus Hospital and serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. They serve dishes like Achari Tikka, Amritsari Tikka, Chicken and Mutton Kheema Masala and a host of Paneer dishes.

Cuisine: North Indian, European, Italian
Open only in the evenings, this place serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. It has an awesome food platters, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian and also some great kebabs. The Lal Maas is a must try. They have live music which is added advantage.
