5 Best Places to Sip on Summer Specials in Chandigarh
Adding zing to the summer season are refreshing cocktails
20 Jun, 2019 by Jagmeeta Thind JoyThe summer heat is at its peak. With the weather playing wicked, time to sit back and cool off with some refreshing drinks. Bartenders around the city are also infusing seasonal produce making it no less than a gourmet sip. Here are 5 recommendations in Chandigarh.
35 Brewhouse, JW Marriott, Chandigarh
Summer is all about mangoes. While we have our share of desserts paying an ode to the king of fruits, the microbrewery has on offer Mango Peach Sangria and a drink called the High Tide. While the Mango Peach Sangria brings together the sweetness of peach and mangoes with the sourness of lemon and wine, the High Tide combines mango puree and mango pulp topped with ginger ale to make for a fizzy concoction. It is a perfect drink to down on a hot summer day.

Black Lotus, the Chinese fine-dining restaurant in Taj Chandigarh offers a good selection of Chinese dishes; a lot is from the Schezwan belt of China. But if you happen to dine here and are skipping the soups, go for the Bellini. It is the perfect accompaniment to the fiery stir-fries. Made using a fresh peach puree and charged with sparkling wine, this Italian drink is a winner for us.

Playground, Sector 26, Chandigarh
When summer temperatures soar high, we all crave a fizzy drink with a bit of tang. Inspired by the gold ol’ banta – a colloquial term for a carbonated lemon drink served in a glass bottle – Playground offers a range of Made in India Bantas spiked with a spirit of your choice. While we recommend the Jaljeera flavour, there’ is also Kala Khatta, Roasted Masala Ginger, Lemon Masala and more to choose from.

Pipe and Barrel, Sector 9, Chandigarh
Summer would be quite incomplete if you didn’t sip on a Long Island Ice Tea (LIIT). While there are plenty of places offering the popular cocktail, we relished the one on offer at Pipe and Barrel. Among the new arrivals, Pipe and Barrel, true to its name, focuses on the bar coupled with the hookah. The LIIT here tasted just right and the addition of lemon gave the drink a unique flavour.

Sector 7 Social, Sector 7, Chandigarh
This summer saw one of the biggest finales on television. To celebrate the ending of The Game of Thrones, Social has curated a special cocktail menu by their head mixologist Vijay Prakash. The menu features special cocktails, each drink representing characters from Game of Thrones. The Devilish Dwarf drink pays tribute to the favourite mischief maker with its spicy chilli and tabasco flavour notes mingling with tequila and rounded off with a hint of sweet cherry. Our pick is the Dragon Whisperer – a blue LIIT that blends rum, tequila and vodka with floral notes and some fresh dragon fruit. Go check it out at Social.
