If you claim to know Delhi very well and brag about partying in almost every pub or bar there is then hold your horses for you haven’t tried one place, which we promise will mesmerize you. Although the name is surprisingly not-so-creative, we still find the place to be a delightful find. ‘Tourist’ lies in the wonderfully hot location at Scindia House on Janpath Road, Connaught Place and is surrounded by the best of nightspots in the city. If you are serious about partying then you can’t do better than Tourist. After the nightmare of the traffic, hand over your keys to the valet and step into the mood immediately to party. Just take a lift right to the top floor to reach Tourist and find a table indoors or in their charming outdoor area.
Any great bar in the city needs to have both good booze selection and food menu to entice its patrons. Tourist satisfies on both levels by keeping a lavish spread of booze menu beginning with a section dedicated to signature house concoctions like, Desi Piakkad Log, Mexican Lawa, LPG, Midnight Masala and Dr. Schweppes On Holiday. Match them with few nibbles such as, chandni chaat chatkara, Shimla bajji bomb, rawa macchi fry, aminabad ki galouti, gondhoraj prawn, aranccini, Dijon calamari rings, chilled rice paper summer rolls, corn & chilli fritters and pot stickers. Fill yourself further on, Burmese khao soi, Cantonese wonton stew, reuben sandwich, quesadilla con queso, Gilmore’s grilled salmon, coq au vin, gambas al ajilo, flame grilled croissant, pizza al taglio, sana thongpa, nihari keema, Mangalorean prawn ghassi and crepes a la francaise.
The variety is immense in first and second course and carries on the same generosity in final sweet course as well. Give into, rashabali, chocolate paan shots, death by eclairs, panna cotta, darsaan, tab tim grob, Boston cream waffles and Phoenix cheesecake. The name may be a bit ordinary but there is nothing boring or dull about the interiors of Tourist. As we mentioned before the bar is split onto two floors including a rooftop section. Interiors are casual but stylishly designed with tasteful pieces. There is plenty of seating styles to choose from. To reflect the wanderlust theme they have painted scenic views from all across the world. Tourist is one of those bars where indoors are just as attractive as the outdoors. Tourist is a bit expensive but worth it.
