The interiors of ‘The Oriental Pavilion’ qualifies it as one of the most stunning properties on the sohna road, Gurgaon, vicinity. The dark wooden theme prevails the room making it seem exotic and regal. Though the restaurant is on the top of the roof of Fortune select Excalibur there is no window, so you won’t really feel that you are at such height. The restaurant is done in wooden tones from top to bottom yet the brightly coloured lights saves it from being confined. The clever lighting highlights the best features of the room with exotic chandeliers and tiffany lamps. The interiors are truly stunning and mysterious. You can sit at the booth near the open kitchen to take pleasure in the art of cooking. The restaurant tends to be quiet so you can choose it for relaxing long lunch or even a business meeting. The staff serves you well and is cordial at best.
Menu is Chinese. The chef of Oriental Pavilion is old school so expect to see the classics on the menu that have been crowd favourites from decades. The menu travels Thai, Chinese and Japanese regions adapting their most favourite recipes. To prepare your palette order some appetizers within, prawn balls with chilli garlic dip, peking duck, dim sums, wok fried tofu in chilli basil, crabmeat & black fungus soup, pot fried red snapper, thai spring rolls, chilli chicken, veg Manchurian and manchao soup. The food is carefully prepared with serious set of skills that will reflect on the plate. For mains go for, spicy fish chilli oyster sauce, hoi chicken, wok fried lamb in tomato chilli sauce, vegetables in thai green curry, roast duck with black mushrooms, vegetable dumplings in garlic soya, stir fried prawns in hong kong style and cottage cheese in hunan sauce.
Pair the spicy oriental curries with your choice of rice or noodles. Nasi goreng, pad thai, chilli garlic noodles, chicken & egg fried rice, mix noodles and sticky thai rice seems to be your best bet. The Japanese section is not half bad itself with bento, miso soup, yaki tori, sushi and tori no karage. End the meal on a sweet note of, tab tim krob, tempura fried ice cream, crispy honey darsan and five spice date pancake. Though The Oriental Pavilion is expensive it is unique and one of the most lovely restaurant at Sohna road.
