‘The Library’ as the name suggests has nothing to do with books or scripts rather it is a library of choicest alcohol especially cognac. This bar reflects the passion of Leela Palace’s founder late Captain CP Nair and his superb collection of rare cognacs. The label of cognac stocked here cannot be found in the entire country. But instead of booze what pulls the patrons here is the ambience. There is only one word to describe the ambience and that is romance. The dim lighting and swanky interiors make the bar ideal for a romantic date. Just the right amount of energy and leisure can be found at The Library. Though the interiors are worth spending all the moolah it’s the outdoor area which steals your heart. The place is made for razzle-dazzle. There is nothing special about the set up but the clever lighting accentuates the patio transforming it into this oasis of intimacy and romance.
The staff of The Library is highly efficient and friendly. They cheerfully serve you making you feel welcome and special. The outdoor area of the bar is designed to be filled with friends and loved ones. Separate sets of couches are placed at discreet levels so you can have privacy and distance. Latticed lamps throws starry lights which transforms the entire area with romance and mystery. The awesome music in the background creates the mood while you sit back and converse to your heart’s content. In winters the courtyard is very much in demand. The bartenders are exciting lot and mad skills. They whip up some of the most delicious cocktails and are good enough to explain the ingredients. Mixologists have created some signature house drinks that are loved by the customers. They are happy to accommodate you if you have any instructions for them.
Beside the envious vintage cognac collection The Library also stocks various other alcohol options. So wine drinkers will not be disappointed with the bar menu. There is something for everyone. Single malt whisky range is also worth looking into here. As the Leela Palace hotel is located at very posh area (Chanakyapuri) the clientlele will be diverse and interesting. Neighbouring diplomats, locals and in house guests come to Library to let their hair down. Drinking here is expensive so be prepared for a substantial amount if you choose a rare drink. Otherwise The Library is ideal for romance and some amount of mystery.
- You could do a business meeting here but unusually for a hotel bar the focus is on romance rather than commerce. This is the place to bring a girlfriend
- Though this is not as well known, the Leela actually has a second bar at the top of the hotel, attached to Le Cirque with outdoor seating and an unusual bar snacks menu
- In the winter, The Library takes over the courtyard outside. It is very pleasant but it lacks the magic of the indoor space
