About Smokey's BBQ and Grill, Greater Kailash (GK) 2, South Delhi
Ladies, let’s confess. BBQ is essentially dude food. I am not saying that we girls don’t appreciate a good steak from time to time but saucy ribs are more in guy’s lane. Don’t get me wrong I do love a good burger but unlike ‘the men’ I am not obsessed about it. Something about the saucy ribs drive them crazy. So it’s only fair that ‘Smokey’s BBQ and grill’ at greater Kailash has such a fan following. The place is like a cult headquarters of BBQ fan club. The joint is done in masculine fashion with wood and brick design. Exposed brick walls in white with wooden floor and ceiling supported with blackboard style pillars divide the room. Double story gastro-pub has a wide staircase running upstairs which gives the room an airiness. Decals on the wall add trendy touch.
When you think of BBQ immediately you assume a plate of ribs presented in an unappetising way. But here at Smokey’s the food is delivered in a very wonderful way. The golden yellow fries with a cheesy burger with tomato and fresh lettuce peeking looks as delicious as a food shot in a magazine. Burgers here have lots of patty options. Tenderloin, chicken, potato, lamb, vegetables, pulled pork all are served with helping of fries, salad and baked beans. The hotdogs have similar option. In mains the steak chapter is worth reading. Filet mignon with wasabi (really? Wasabi?), slow cooked pork ribs (yum), john dory with smoked Shimla chilli (double yum), are some lip-smacking options. For lighter on tummy fare range of pastas are served too. Spinach and ricotta ravioli sounds fantastic. And so does grilled veg tortellini. So many options! OH, don’t forget pizzas. Go for old school peperoni. A tip: Smokey’s have crazy big whopper size burger and hotdog. Good idea for challenging a friend. Just a friendly suggestion.
Sweet tooth cure we have. Chocolate nougat pudding might heal every kind of craving. And yes smokey’s have dark chocolate mud pie. To wash down all that saucy ribs shakes, mocktails, iced teas, juices are at your beck and call. So slurp away! The joint hosts music nights on alternate days. Bollywood night is quite a crowd puller. Smokey’s BBQ and grill is a reasonable enough joint. Eight hundred rupees per head is all it will cost you to leave the American dream.
