For an average epicurean curry is something that is synonymous to Indian cuisine but the curry culture is not exclusive to Indian shores, rather it manages to touch all over the globe with its delicious aroma. Indians may rule curry but other cultures too have a hold on it and claims to have a rendition of their own. The restaurant is dedicated towards the concept of curries and looks beyond your average chicken curries or paneer butter masala. At Piali – The Curry Bistro they are serious about their curries and are not afraid to be bold. The entrance to the restaurant is a little difficult to find but when you do, it will be worth it.
Piali – The Curry Bistro is located just opposite PVR Plaza in Connaught Place and is one of a kind eatery in Delhi. Their menu not only tackles North Indian cuisine but pays attention to Asian, Thai and Chinese cuisine as well. Burmese and Sri Lankan curries too find a way to showcase here, so if you’re adventurous go for it. Along with their yum bar menu pair the curries. Lavender sour will greatly complement the starters, dahi batata puri, lal mirchi chicken tikka, jerk nachos, flying wings, dabeli, fish tikka, Mumbaiya vegetables franky, Jaffna black pepper curry leaf prawns, tangy button mushroom, chicken galapi, khumb & singhade ki galouti and roast chicken & caramelised onion spring rolls. Appreciate curries like, Thai curry, Burmese khao suey, Madras mutton curry, bhutta methi malai, Assamese black sesame chicken curry, soya chaap, Srilankan chicken curry of ancient kings, ambul thial fish curry, dum aloo and Jodhpuri gatte ki sabzi.
The dessert selection may not be too extensive but it features wholesome pleasing desserts like, rum flambe gulab jamun, brownie with ice cream and pineapple halwa. From its perch on the upper floor, Piali – The Curry Bistro overlooks the hub-a-dub of busy Connaught Place. In turn it gets flooded by an abundance of sunlight that gives the room an airy light feel. Dining style is not too formal yet is stylish and proper. Comfy patterned chairs flanks sturdy dark brown tables creating the perfect foil to the large colourful painting mounted on the wall. The place is not expensive at all.
