Located at a secluded corner of central arcade, DLF Phase 2, Gurgaon, is a restaurant which is a contradiction in itself. Very cleverly ‘Curry Pot’ has taken the Indian out of the Indian restaurant and presents to you the traditional food in a non-traditional setting. The restaurant is divided into two floors in which ground floor is converted to the family dining space while the upper floor is a lounge like area upholstered with low sinking couches and sheer white curtains. With boho shack like interiors you almost expect them to present to you the middle eastern or American fare but instead they delight you with traditional Indian food prepared to its truest potential. The restaurant is pretty and casual with bursts of eccentricity at places. Curry Pot is a venture of the very popular Moet’s so you go inside with high expectations which are fully satisfied. The restaurant gets invaded by customers of all age groups who hold a common love of Indian cuisine.
Currry Pot’s menu has Lebanese, Italian and Chinese sections too but what they specialize in is wholesome Indian food. You can assured of their authentic flavour and unquestionably good taste. Start experimenting with tandoori jeenga, mutton burra kebab, kesar & kalimirch ka murgh tikka, paneer malai tikka, fish tikka, tandoori bharwan khumb, afghani chicken, mutton seekh kebab, hari bhari seekh and reshami seekh kebab. Opt for tandoori mix platters if you are with a group of friends focused on drinking. Follow the appetizers with their delicious curries. Try out their goan fish curry, dal makhani, paneer lababdar, mushroom do pyaza, pindi chole, paneer makhani, murgh tikka masala, bhunna gosht, aloo dum Kashmiri, gosght rarha masala, malai kofta, murgh tikka lababdar and kadhai jheenga. The list of mains and starters may not be extensive but whatever they have on the menu is a guaranteed success.
Pair the lovely meal with assorted Indian breads like mutton keema kulcha, stuffed naan, missi roti, rumali roti, tandoori roti and laccha/pudina/onion paratha. More of a rice person? Then for you they will have dum biryani with prawn/chicken/gosht/vegetable, jeera/peas pulao or good old steamed rice. To keep your meal light stick to their superb juicy rolls. In desserts section the chef presents gulab jamun, phirni, kulfi and assorted ice creams. The service is old style and the old regulars are considered like royalties. Curry Pot is affordable and delicious. What more can you want?
