Chinese food can never be enough. Give us as many as Chinese restaurants you want and you won’t hear any complaints from us, such is our love for this fabulous cuisine. For many Indians this cuisine was the first stepping stone towards global gastronomy and most of us has cut our teeth on this fare after our very own North Indian food. There are some iconic Chinese restaurants in Delhi part of five-star properties but amongst standalone restaurants, one name is an old favourite of the foodies. ‘Drums of Heaven’ is a name synonymous to Chinese food in the city and for several families dining here is part of their family tradition. Located right on the edge of Green Park Extension, Drums of Heaven is easy to approach and there is good parking space available too, something of a luxury in Delhi.
Drums of Heaven is equivalent to Chinese food in the city but their menu stretches out to include Thai cuisine as well. There is an abundance of seafood on the menu, a highlight for seafood lovers. If you are a large group, opt for the buffet which ranges from anything between vegetarian to non-vegetarian to seafood dominant. Their food menu comes armed with a fantastic bar menu to accentuate the flavours, go wild. Pair the drink with some varied appetizers like, crispy wonton, spicy peking chicken wings, five spice vegetables, soya chilli lamb, glass noodle salad, Thai summer rolls and tamarind chilli prawn. Main course offers an extensive array such as, three treasures in taros nest, sliced chicken in oyster sauce, coriander lamb, caraway chicken, Singapore chilly crab and fish mandarin style.
The variety is tremendous at Drums of Heaven so go with an appetite. Round off the menu with something sweet. Date pancakes, banana split, darsaan, mocha ice cream and lychees with ice cream. Interiors of Drums of Heaven are decidedly old-fashioned. It’s still the same as it was a decade ago. The restaurant’s dining space is split across two floors. The upper one is more cosy and relaxed by the presence of plush couches put there to enjoy the live music entertainment, while the lower level is more formal and proper. Either ways Drums of Heaven is appealing, vintage and enchanting. The best thing about dining here is that the restaurant is totally affordable. It is a complete package!
