About China Garden, Greater Kailash (GK) 2, South Delhi

Have you ever wondered about the origin of some classic dishes that one takes for granted today? Take chicken Manchurian for example. Not many people know that this classic Chinese dish, which you see on practically every Chinese menu, was brainstormed by one Nelson Wang in Bombay in the 1970’s. The man in question was responsible for changing the face of Chinese food in India and today runs with his children, a popular restaurant in New Delhi. A branch of the Bombay original, ‘China Garden’ is counted as one of the best places to enjoy authentic Chinese fare in New Delhi. The restaurant is situated in the posh M Block market of Greater Kailash (GK) 2 in South Delhi and revel in its fantastic location. The place is sought after, make a reservation.

The owner Nelson Wang takes deep interest in the food at his restaurant and can be seen strolling through the dining room on occasions to keep a check on quality. Food is authentically Chinese but if you prefer the desi version of it then inform the chef, he will be happy to oblige. For not so hefty prices, one can enjoy great high quality Chinese food here. Give their bar menu a skip and opt for house Chinese tea for a change. The food menu is wide enough so begin immediately with, fried vegetable wontons, aromatic honey smoked pork, bacon wrapped prawn, vegetable squab and pork spare ribs. Savour the main course of, asparagus in white pepper sauce, spicy ginger lamb, aromatic honey smoked pork, Korean butter chilly garlic fish, red china garden curry, stir-fried Chinese greens, crispy chicken sweet & sour and four seasons golden prawns in mango sauce.

The menu of China Garden is pretty wonderful and brimming with a plethora of delicious choices. There is a lot to discover which will take more than one visit. The interiors of China Garden are exotically designed with deep red walls and Asian wooden chairs flanking small round tables. A separate dining area is created for diners looking for a bit of privacy. To infuse the oriental touch several key elements are added in form of tea kettles, Ming vases and a lovely Chinese painting. For moderate prices one can enjoy quite a feast at China Garden.
