Even though Delhi enjoys a wide and diverse range of global cuisines it has a special place in its heart for Chinese food. The comforting warm flavours of Chinese cuisine has wooed the city crowd for decades, paving way to many sensational restaurants that has become the integral part of the city’s gastronomy. While some eateries may have been a recent addition to Delhi’s Asian food scene, they have a powerful history where this cuisine is concerned. One prime example is ‘China Garden’, a wonderful fine dining restaurant that started its culinary journey in the 1970’s at Bombay. The outlet is located at the Marina Arcade of Connaught Place in Delhi, with another one in Greater Kailash. We however have a special preference of CP outlet as it’s much more accessible to us.
The food at China Garden is pure Chinese but if you like your Chinese food a bit tweaked then inform your server. The chef will be happy to accommodate you and whip up some Indo-Chinese versions for you. The owner, Nelson Wang takes special interest in the food so the quality is maintained at all times. Take advantage of their wonderful bar menu, which encompasses every kind of booze under the light. From beer to wine to vodka to scotch, everything is available. To start your evening at China Garden dabble in the appetizers like, fried vegetable wontons, aromatic honey smoked pork, bacon wrapped prawn, vegetable squab and pork spare ribs. Enjoy the main course of, asparagus in white pepper sauce, spicy ginger lamb, aromatic honey smoked pork, Korean butter chilly garlic fish, red china garden curry, stir-fried Chinese greens, crispy chicken sweet & sour and four seasons golden prawns in mango sauce.
Variety on offer is immense and seafood is indulged in liberally. One visit won’t be enough to cover the menu, come again. Sweets are our favourite part of any menu. At China Garden we get to spoil our sweet tooth with, chocolate mousse, date pancakes with vanilla ice cream, chocolate bao, honey noodles with ice cream, caramel custard, lychee with vanilla ice cream, steamed or fried custard bao and mango pudding. The interiors at China Garden are tastefully designed by keeping the décor subtle and delicate. Soft ivory furnishings works beautifully against dark wooden screens that divides the space. The ambience is classic, elegant and refined. China Garden is not too heavy on the pockets too.
