There are quite a many Chinese restaurants in Delhi NCR that can simply take your breath away with their grandeur and gastronomy but no one comes even close to the loveliness of ‘Chi Ni’. Chi Ni is one of the prettiest dining spaces in the city and enjoys the luxury of the clever placement and ambience to the hilt. It’s located at The Roseate near 21st Milestone on NH-8, quite accessible if you’re commuting between Delhi-Gurgaon. Chi Ni was originally planned as an outpost of London’s Michelin-starred Kai and although it still owns a chef for Kai and a consultancy agreement, it is very much its own place. The restaurant redefines Chinese cuisine, giving it an extra edge of sophistication resulting in the restaurant’s popularity. Chi Ni has many unique features that makes it one of the best places for Chinese cuisine.
If you are aware of Kai’s menu and would like the chef to recreate any of its dishes, then ask. The chef will do his best to oblige you and pamper you with attention. One thing is for sure, you will not leave Chi Ni disappointed. Mock meats is Chi Ni’s most unique feature and allows the vegetarians to get a sense of non-vegetarian dishes without crossing the boundary. The menu is expensive but authentic. Start with, crispy spicy mushrooms, peking duck, soft-shell crab salt & pepper, poached fungus Jiang style, lettuce wraps, ash gourd broth, shrimp toast, wasabi mushrooms, aromatic crispy duck and soft-shell crab buttermilk goujons. Main course can be enjoyed with the help of fried rice or noodles. Sweet & sour chicken, Australian lamb chops, steamed lobster, three chilli shrimps, braised lamb shank Chinese style and creamy citrus shrimps.
Coddle yourself with an indulgence of scrumptious sweets after such a fantastic meal. The chef woos you with, senses of chocolate, caraibe fondant with salted caramel, apple ice cream sandwich, splendid yoghurt and Chi Ni chawal. Their innovation shines through the entire menu and complements the ambience perfectly. Chi Ni is located in a luxurious tent on the grounds of the hotel giving the diners a wonderfully unique ambience brimming with romance and splendour. Inside, the décor is formal and elegant. The best seats in the house is outdoors or, if they are full, right next to the window that overlooks the lovely landscape.
- The Peking Duck is one of the standout dishes on the menu but I suggest you roll the pancakes with ‘mock’ duck instead. One of the Chi Ni’s menu’s unique features is that if offers mock meats, made from soya protein and allows vegetarians to get a sense of what non-vegetarian Classic dishes are like
- Located at the stunning The Roseate on the highway that links Delhi to Gurgaon, Chi Ni is set in a large tent (of the most luxurious kind) on the grounds of the resort and is one of Delhi’s better-looking restaurants
- If you do like Kai or have any favourites from that menu, just ask. The chefs will know what you are talking about and should be able to produce a fair approximation
