‘DKK’ at The Grand, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, restaurant was originally conceived as a coffee shop but was clearly designed to suit buffet requirements for in house guests and general footfall. They then turned the restaurant into an all day operation catering to the customers. The room itself is huge with high ceiling and more than enough space to function two restaurants. A glass wall on one side looks over the garden so the patrons get a tremendous view of the outdoors. It like practically sitting in the lush greenery. It’s not hard to guess which the best seat in the house is. They have tried to capture the minimalistic look in the interiors focusing on space and comfort. Easy sofas are placed all over the room highlighted by the tall date trees. Party of two to six can sit comfortably on one table. The space between the tables are enough to offer privacy and intimacy. A great place to hold business meetings and important dinners.
The menu is multicuisine and covers a lot of regions. As DKK is a twenty-four hour restaurant it serves breakfast to dinner. For the most important meal of the day the chef presents omelette, waffles, paratha, dosa, poori-bhaji, American breakfast, south indian breakfast, eggs and pancakes. In evenings they start the menu with seafood soup, cobb salad, Norwegian smoked salmon, cream of mushroom soup, caprese and goat’s cheese salad. Starters like sarson mahi tikka, achari paneer tikka, miso soup, crispy nem, prawn hargow, fish & chips, samosa and aloo tikka chaat, chicken orly and tandoori aloo. In between bites can be savoured with burgers, kathi rolls, pastas, risottos and sandwiches. For second course you can look into herb crusted pan-fried salmon, tenderloin steak, Nellore fish curry, khumb do pyaza, lamb chops, paneer kadhai, root vegetable tagine and mutton rogan josh.
Oriental menu can enjoyed with wok fried snapper, lamb black pepper, braised tofu & mushroom, thai red curry and green curry with vegetables. End the meal on a sweet note. With tiramisu, chocolate brownie, cardamom crème brulee, baked cheesecake, gulab jamun, kesari rasmalai and fresh fruit platter you can leave with a big smile on your face. The kids will not be disappointed for they have their own menu. The service is smooth and efficient. Dining at DKK is slightly pricey but not so much to make a dent in your bank account.
