About Benihana, Epicuria Mall, Nehru Place
Benihana at Epicuria, Nehru Place is a superb example of a perfect restaurant. It qualifies on all three levels Food, Ambience and Service which makes or breaks credibility of the restaurant. Benihana is known for serving delicious Japanese food. Interiors of the restaurant are similar to the rest of the branches of Benihana all over the globe. In an edgy oriental way they have retained the authenticity in the design by staying true to the earthy tone. In a good move on their part they have sectioned the place into two units i.e., the teppanyaki tables and the a la carte tables. A gathering of six to eight people can occupy the teppanyaki section very comfortably. What will follow the meal is a magical experience. The chef will cook right at the table for you entertaining you along with his cute act. With his wits, magic and juggling he will make a fan out of you.
The rest will be done when you will first take a bite of your meal. The menu may not be classical Japanese but it is authentic and delicious enough to win you. Begin the meal with Gyoza, Spinach sesame, Crispy creamy mushroom cup, som tom salad, salmon tataki, spicy tuna tartar, chicken lettuce wraps, crispy calamari and my favourite prawn tempura. Miso and Japanese wonton soup are refreshing on your palette. Sashimi and Sushi section has most of the protein but if you are not light hearted then try Unagi or should I say Broiled eel. Teppan grilled basa and thai green curry are the delicious mains you will not go wrong with. Also worth sampling are grilled Australian lamb chops, spicy tofu steak, twice cooked pork ribs, grilled spicy garlic prawns, okonomiyaki grill and Japanese style ginger pork. Compliment the meal with rice or noodles as a finishing touch.
No meal is complete without something sweet so Benihana has come up with cheesecake dumpling, ice cream tempura, green tea crème brulee and banana tempura. The bar is well stocked and houses pretty much all kinds of booze, Whisky, scotch, vodka, rum, wine, cocktail and also Japanese national drink sake. Not much of a drinker? Then mocktails and refreshers are your safest bet. Benihana is a jewel of a place where you can host private parties if you give a call in advance. Leaning on the expensive side the restaurant is an amazing place for families, colleagues, friends and even business lunches.
