If you are a newbie on the fine dining market, drawing the crowd can be a huge task. Since dining out has become a tad gimmick-y one should watch out where to dine by doing their fair share of research. Many restaurants turn towards live music or molecular elements to uplift their food but several restaurants go old school by actually investing in the food. ‘Barcelos’ is a name that instantly pops up when talking about innovation and surprise. Without taking the support of usual stunts, Barcelos re-invents the classics and is a major reason why this place is so popular. The restaurant enjoys a premium spot on the second floor of DLF Place Mall in Saket. If you want to get off your feet for a while and drink a long cool beverage Barcelos is your place.
Anyone who is even a little bit active on Delhi’s food scene has heard of those colorful burgers that took the city by storm. Barcelos was responsible for that. Gourmets rushed to try out these unique striking burgers and rest was history. Their menu steps away from the usual Italian, Mexican convention and goes after the exotic Portuguese, African and Lebanese fares. Variety is exhaustive with every course getting multiple pages. To wash the starters down try Barcelos’s smokey molecular drinks. A tangy mango or berry cucumber will do fabulously. Tuck into, peri-peri paneer, chicken thigh with onion & pepper, Portuguese salad, fish skewer, stuffed mushroom, chicken drumsticks and chicken wings. Flirt more with the menu with, flame grilled peri-peri chicken, trinchado with rice, pasta in red sauce, soya keema wrap, red burger, chicken picantte and mutton kebab sizzler.
Barcelos deserves to be taken time with. Go with a big appetite, it’s that kind of place. After you are done wading through their spicy main course, take a breather before divulging into the sweet ending. Indulge in desserts like, dark lava meltdown cake, cheese cake brownie, eggless nut brownie, double layer dark delight, in house ice creams and mango mousse cake. Matching the dark intensity of their food, Barcelos do not hold back when it comes to its interiors. Modern artwork covers every surface of the dark painted walls while pale floral booths adding the soft contrast. Ambience is comfortable, striking and casual. Bill may be tad pricey, be cautious.
