About The Dining Room, Park Hyatt Chennai
When dining in Chennai you will notice quite a bit of regional influence in decors of the restaurants. The restaurateurs see a lot of potential in giving the space the local flavour, something the tourists find enchanting. Practice of traditional touches does add some charm to the dining experience and patrons come back each time to relive the moment. In the days of modern edgy restaurants, these restaurants stand out like a refreshing reprieve, bring with them a breeze of nostalgia and old world charm. Luxury hotels have seen the potential in the old-fashioned approach and built their spaces around the concept. Park Hyatt’s ‘The Dining Room’ takes the trend further by evoking old memories in the form of the décor, which reflects the heritage of old Madras. The hotel is located in the lush surrounding of Velachery road in Guindy, an area known for posh hotels and trendy restaurants.
The Dining Room is an inspired venture that it is the perfect reflection of the city. Unlike the other hotel restaurants, The Dining Room moves towards the past not the future. Its décor is like no other. Forget the conventional contemporary pieces and modern vibe, here everything signifies the presence of a Tamilian household. Décor of The Dining Room is inspired by a Tamil household, showcasing objects that belong in every common regional house. They have tried to retain the modern aspects yet show the patrons a glimpse into old Madras. Furniture is a lovely warm wooden colour with carved legs, which is quintessential southern India. As a pop of colour, modern artwork made out of silk thread spool hangs on the wall. Bright red straight back sofas also lends the much needed vibrancy to the room. If you are looking for romance, sit beside the pool.
Everything at The Dining Room is distinctly elegant. The subtle sophistication instantly impresses you and lends a sense of calm to the ambience. The restaurant remains open 24X7 so a diner can walk in anytime for a memorable meal. Menu as expected of an all-day dining restaurant, is global so expect to enjoy Continental, South-Indian and North-Indian cuisines. Pick, beetroot & goat cheese salad, kodi vepudu, paneer tikka, rich fish & seafood soup, podi idly, murgh tikka in appetizers and lamb burger, pan fried sea bass fillet, aubergine stacks, roasted chicken, bhuna gosht and paneer lababdar in main course.
