About Pind, Thuraipakkam, Chennai

North Indians owe all their great love for curries to Punjab, from where originated some of the best curries we call as our own. A classic North Indian menu mostly consists of the spicy curry bonanza of Punjab with smattering of Awadhi royal kitchen glamour. Nevertheless, the point is that Punjab plays a great role in every Indian menu. Chennai is no different to the love of curry. The city houses a vast selection of fantastic curry places that are known to dish out a smorgasbord of North Indian fare with aplomb. One good example is ‘Pind’. Pind is a charming casual dining restaurant located at MRK Arcade on 200 Feet Radial Road in Thuraipakkam. This is a wonderful place to bring family or a large group of foodie friends for dinner.

Pind keeps the Punjabi tradition alive of a hearty breakfast. The restaurant opens its doors early in the morning and goes on late into the night. Get your fill of wholesome stuffed paranthas, chole bhature, pakoras, vada pav before heading to work. Lunch is a busy affair for them but not as much as dinner service, which receives a heavy footfall of after office diners. Keep in mind, food is all vegetarian here. Although Pind does also serve Chinese fare, we suggest you stick to old-fashioned North Indian. Start with, dahi papdi chaat, pav bhaji pizza, tiranga paneer tikka, shahi sheekh kebab, dahi ke sholey, bhindi fry, stuffed dhingri and badami paneer tikka. Your love for paneer tikka will be indulged here. In curries try, paneer kali mirch wala, stuffed Shimla mirch, mushroom kadhai, anguri paneer masala, dahi wala aloo masala and paneer darbari.

Pind is a haven for paneer lovers. The variety of dishes at Pind is their strength. Dip into the curries with the help of their varied flatbread selection. Rice dishes are somewhat limited in comparison to their bread section. Indo-Italian parantha, Pindi naan, chilli cheese naan, missi roti seems most promising. With rich rabri and cool kulfi wrap up the evening perfectly. Pind has cleverly tried to play with a small space through quirky Punjabi artwork. Colourful murals, moped handle, train exterior façade, bamboo sheds, brass tumblers and bright cushions puts a creative rural spin on their décor. Ambience is fun, relaxed and cheerful. If you want a pocket-friendly North Indian feast then Pind is your best bet.
