We each have a vacation place that we escape to at some point of time to recharge our batteries. Be it a resort, beach or a quaint farmhouse. But what if we tell you that to unwind you really don’t need to cross the city but only drive down to East Coast Road of Chennai and take a temporary reprieve. Located on this busy route is a wonderfully serene restaurant ‘The Farmhouse’ and what the name promises, it delivers. This lovely restaurant has taken the nature into consideration and worked with it so the effect is charming and relaxing. It’s an ideal place to let your hair down surrounded by lush green gardens and great canopy of trees. A lovely pool is also part of the property so on pleasant days you can sit outside and dine under the canopy of trees overlooking the pool. They have accomplished to blend the outdoors seamlessly with the restaurant which makes it all the more charming.
The lovely serene ambience of The Farmhouse only elevates the dining experience and complimenting the whole setting fully is their multi-cuisine menu which features cuisines like, continental, Italian, North Indian and Chinese. The menu is clever and mouth-watering. Dishes featured here are both imaginative and bursting with flavours. Their starters are easy to eat and bite size so even if you are sitting beside the pool you can relish the dishes without too much bother. We recommend you to pick, fish fingers, fried squid rings, spicy potato wedges, jhinga zaffrani, golden fried prawns, tomato soup, roasted vegetable salad, herbed mozzarella, vegetable crostini, barbeque chicken in sticks, cheese crusted chicken fingers and paneer hariyali tikka. Each dish is prepared beautifully by the chef so try to sample little bit of everything here.
After such marvellous range of appetizers you might not be left with much of an appetite but if you do then pick up your menu and take your pick amongst some delicious dishes. You can savour a fricassee of vegetables New Orleans, chicken bolognaise lasagne, Punjabi fish curry, mutton biryani, pan fried fillets of basa, stuffed chicken breast, pasta in mix mushrooms corn walnut cream and basil and paneer butter masala. Kids especially love to entwine long fried noodles around their fork here but what they adore is the dessert section which has some really lip-smacking treats. Dining at The Farmhouse will not cost you too much which is an added benefit.

- The carte du jour is a fairly generic Indian-Chinese-Continental affair; tandoori dishes are what you should order - try the interesting seekh-in-seekh mutton & chicken kabab and the good ol’ tandoori chicken
