We can pay thanks to pizzas and pastas for Italian cuisine has become a household affair. No longer is our knowledge of global cuisine limited to Indo-Chinese fare, we have sharpened our skills on Italian food as well. Now our pantry actually stocks on bottles of olive oils, stacks of parmesan cheese, packets of dry pasta in various shapes and planters of basil too. Our roti loving grandmothers too demand their share of pasta once a week and happily munch on slices of pizzas, declaring it tasty. Our homes have grown used to words like ‘penne’ and ‘gnocchi’ being thrown around. Diners of Chennai have tried to combine their love for Italian food with their desi palate and paved way for restaurants like ‘Little Italy’. The brand originated in the 90’s in Pune and since then has become synonymous with Italian cuisine all over the country.
Little Italy is known for a rather superb menu that explores the depth of Italian cuisine. But the décor is on the simple side. There is nothing striking or remarkable about it. The Besant Nagar outlet comes with a charming outdoor section which is the highlight of the place. It fills up quickly even on weekdays. Patrons often like to laze around in this section of the restaurant when the weather is especially pleasant. Indoors the décor is timeless and simple. Chic looking furniture seems just right in this pale spacious room. If you are part of a large dinner party then ask your server to lead you towards their private dining section which can easily seat a party of twelve. To throw a small party here, just give the restaurant a prior notice and they will be happy to accommodate you.
Little Italy is known for its homely Italian menu which surprise-surprise, is completely vegetarian. You will find dining here budget-friendly and relaxing.
