Very few places can do things in style and get away with it without being too pretentious or too snobbish. A certain amount of flair can excuse just about anything when it comes to the right kind of ambience. A well decorated space can take the restaurant to a whole new level. If done correctly, it can lure patrons in by its façade alone. Said to be a heavyweight in the hotel industry, Taj Club House in Thousand Lights is home to a marvellous place, ‘Clubhouse’. The restaurant is the luxurious stylish extension of this posh five star hotel and is the hotel’s all-day dining space. Patrons flock to the establishment in hopes of sophistication and elegant comfort which they get in abundance. A group of suited businessmen and posse of svelte dresses feels very much part of the scene.
The effortless style and elegance of the restaurant makes it easy for us to like it. It’s ideal for a power lunch or a hush-hush dinner with a loved one, as it provides a backdrop of tranquillity and affluent class. The space is designed well by including the contemporary touches to the scene along with grandeur. But no matter how stylish they have composed the place, you still feel welcome and relaxed. Low heighted comfy formal tables are added along with the small tables that is perfect for cosy twosomes. Magnificent modern chandeliers hangs from the long skylight that runs across the dining area. During the day the entire room is flooded by soft golden light from all sides, giving the room a breathable and airy quality. Clubhouse is classy, modern and elegant.
Clubhouse is operational 24X7 and is an expensive place to dine at. Its menu is multi-cuisine and trots all over the globe, especially focusing on the cuisine of North-India and South-India. Dine in the lap of luxury by starting with the breakfast spread, which is pretty lavish. If not then move to the appetizers section, which features hits like, spice dusted grilled prawns, nutty arugula salad, lamb satay, hot ‘n’ cold Asian rolls, podi idli, lemon grass noodle soup, chili hot fish and cocktail green peas samosa. Main course continues with, grilled seafood, roasted rack of lamb, sliced steak teriyaki, madras fish curry, fish peri peri, pan fried grouper, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, burgers and so much more. The variety is extensive. Conclude with a sweet dish.
- The stir fry station at the dinner buffet trumps over the limp salad bar. South Indian staples are what you should order during breakfast. Give the poached eggs a miss here
- The dessert spread is quite likeable, the little sugar-bombs look cute and taste good
- The main course in the buffet has a larger spread for the vegetarians, and the South Indian dishes stand out
