For months I have been craving some good Thai food especially after I came back last year from Thailand but after spending days looking for a place in Chennai I finally came across ‘Absolute Thai’. The restaurant has been absolutely divine and I whole-heartedly recommend it. After visiting Absolute Thai I have been hearing about it from other food fanatics as well and all good things too. If you want to have some sensational Thai food right here in Chennai then visit Cenotaph Road, Teynampet today. Interiors of the restaurant is classy and eye-pleasing. Earthy colour palette is the main focus here with some red chairs thrown in for vibrant effect. Lovely crystal chandeliers hangs from the ceiling overhead all ablaze with light. Walls are mounted with wooden planks which have been carved with Thai alphabets. Lamps in the shape of a full golden lotus washes the room in a pale glow. These tiny touches reminds you of Thai heritage and goes a long way to charm you.

The service at Absolute Thai is flawless and prompt. Staff really takes care of you and are well versed with the menu. If you are new to this cuisine then ask your server for his recommendations and we assure you, you won’t be disappointed. Otherwise opt for their set menu which comes in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Thai cuisine is a simple cuisine which leans heavily on usage of aromatics like lemongrass, basil, coconut and tamarind. Yet the effect is delicious and light at the same time. Begin tasting the menu with the starters section featuring, tod mun pla (Thai fish cakes), tom kha soup, tung tong je (golden royal money bags), po pia phak (crispy spring rolls), tod mun goong (Thai prawn balls), tom yum talay soup and goong pao (prawns wrapped in banana leaf and grilled).

Mains consists of beautifully aromatic rice and noodles which can be combined with stir fries and curries. Phat bami which is a stir fry garlic noodles can be combined with phad pongkari poo (crab meat curry), kaeng ped (Thai red curry), med mamuang himapan (stir fry with cashewnuts & dry red chilli), pla rad prik (deep fried fish with chilli sauce) and phak phad prik tai on (stir fried vegetables tossed in tender pepper corns). Finish with a lemon grass juice or Bua loy, a Thai rice balls in coconut milk. One thousand bucks would be enough for two diners here.
