The Heat Cafe

Mexican cuisine has finally found its feet on Indian continent after its dull start. For many, Mexican cuisine is limited to nachos and tacos but the fare is wonderfully vast as well as delightfully colourful. A plain sheet of tortilla is made in numerous ways backed by creamy guacamole or spicy salsa for that acidic kick. Bengaluru is waking up to Mexican cuisine too and no longer has the cuisine to share space with other fares. The city now boasts of some standalone Mexican places too with a full-fledged menu dedicated to this exciting fare. One such name pops in our heads called ‘The Heat Café’, referring to obviously the spice level of Mexican fare. Perched on the second floor of Dollars Colony on New BEL Road, The Heat Café draws the younger patrons.

The menu at Heat Café is entirely Mexican so take your fill of the quesadillas, burritos and the fajitas. The food is authentically and freshly prepared, hence a little delay in the service but one bite and your ruffled feathers are settled. They serve wines with the meal, take advantage of that. For your first course it’s wise to wade into the menu through the appetizers such as, fried zucchini, baja calamari, tortilla pizza, duet of tostadas, super nachos, sweet Cajun wings, taquitos, potato skins, tomato & mandarin soup, empanadas, el diablo sonrisa wings, spicy santa fe rolls and jalapenos bites. Move onto, veg chorizo with spinach & corn, fajita diablo, chili tofu soft tacos, chipotle orange chicken fajitas, fideo rojo-Mexican spaghetti, Spanish kadai paneer burrito, pan seared cilantro fish and filet mignon asada. There is even a burrito named after the city, try it.

Get ready to be spoiled by The Heat Café’s decadent dessert selection. They make some mean desserts inspired by Mexico. Eat, crillon cake, warm chocolate pudding, caramel flan, chili brownie sizzler, double dipped fried ice cream, street style churros and an assortment of cheesecakes. The interiors of The Heat Café resembles a rustic villa with high arches and an extended glass flanked space overlooking the lush greenery. Small discreet lights fitted in the rafters softly lights the room giving it a cosy casual feel. Furniture is light-weight and casual. On pleasant evenings sit outside on the terrace or their extended balcony. A pocket-friendly charming eatery.
