The classic pubs that carved a niche for themselves on Bengaluru’s night scene seems to have vanished altogether regardless of the handful few. One of the giants to survive the invasion of the trendy bars is ‘Geoffrey’s’. Located on posh HAL Airport Road, Royal Orchid Hotel, the pub was one of the most popular place a few years back. Though it may not be so happening now it has toned down to a more relaxed pace. The traditional British interiors are refreshing in the sea of trendy and contemporary pubs. The spacious room is split onto two levels granting the punters ample of seats to recline with their party, no matter how large. A warm wooden bar is the focal point of the room and extends its wooden design to the entire space. Large stained windows, simple metal lamps and straight back wooden chairs gives the pub a charming appeal. The look is rustic and traditionally British.
The servers here at Geoffrey’s are a friendly lot. They are attentive and prompt extending a smooth and prompt service to their patrons. You can also sit in the outdoor area under the quaint gazebos. Drinking under the stars while a cool breeze wafts through is my idea of a relaxing evening. The bar menu is not very extensive and is chosen to keep short and compact. However, it is well stocked with all kinds of popular booze. Go for a regular beer or a draught one if not then allow them to tempt you with their impressive range of scotch/whisky. They keep practically all major labels, even the mature refined ones. Add fun quotient to your evening by ordering a round of shots. The classic cocktails namely Long island iced tea, martini, mai tai, tom Collins, old fashioned, manhattan, mojito and margarita are beautifully created here.
To nibble they deliver some delectable appetizers. Munch on, tossed chicken tikka, gambas, prawn and bacon wrap, chilli fish, hot smoked piggy ribs, fish amritsari, crispy conjee lamb, crispy nachos, nutty cheese toast, paneer tikka tempura, Geoffrey’s wings, BBQ chipolatas, Yakitori chicken, shanghai prawn, calamari frito, pull lamb nachos, American chilli corn and cheese dynabites. Feast on their mains with classic burger, pre molded biryani, Kolkata kati roll, pizza nachos and twin sliders. Ask for a dessert sampler to finish grandly. Geoffrey’s is a pricey place but reminds us of the old era and retains some of the magic back.
