Pan Asian food has been slowly and steadily climbing the popularity charts across the country but it took it’s own sweet time to reach Ahmedabad. Yet finally, it flourished in this famous Gujarati hub in form of several small eateries and few fancy ones too. A major reason for this expansion is owed to the local automobile plants, which draws many Japanese expats regularly to the Ahmedabad city. Mindful of this development, Renaissance Hotel in Sola has opened an Asian-inspired restaurant on it’s premises called ‘Kuro’. Being a recent entrant, Kuro has accumulated quite a fan following for it’s décor and it’s food. It is only open for dinner service nowadays but soon it will start lunch service as well. It’s a great spot for family dinners.
The tranquil Asian bistro, Kuro, instantly tickles your imagination by it’s Pan Asian menu that leans heavily on Japanese. Menu is kept quite compact but it still offers you a plethora of great Asian options. A pot of Japanese Sencha tea will complement the food perfectly. Begin with an array of yummy appetizers such as, rock shrimps with spicy miso glaze, batter fried vegetables, braised pork belly, wok tossed edamame, miso shiru, salmon roll, chef’s signature prawns and seafood pancake with crab, squid and scallop. Sushi aficionados can make an entire course out of sushi. For second course the chef weaves a tale of delicious flavours through delicacies like, Thai red curry, stir fried crispy fish with basil sauce, Sichuan fried chicken, mapo tofu, cumin lamb, wok tossed king prawn in XO sauce, Chong qin style hot pot chicken and stir fried red snapper.
With Yang chow fried rice or Hakka noodles you can savor the mains more fully. The chef perfectly concludes the menu with a plethora of Asian-inspired desserts. Worth trying are, Japanese cheesecake, mango coconut crème brulee with palm sugar caramel, tropical Asian fruits, date pancake filled with date nuts and toffee sesame banana coated with caramel candy sided with vanilla ice cream. Kuro doesn’t cost too much. Prices are moderate. Kuro is designed like a modern Japanese bistro by combining traditional Japanese aspects with contemporary elements. The result is eye-catching and tasteful. Soft shades are used to develop the space and cherry blossom printed screens dividing the room further infuses the Asian touch. Kuro is much in demand, reserve ahead.
